We were tasked with designing a method to output 1000 custom "lab on a chip" to reduce the processing time per chip and reduce the number of people required to produce the chips. To the right is a full list of customer requirements that we followed to create our machine. This model, seen below, was designed in OnShape 3D modeling.
My team executed force, torque, and RPM calculations to determine which precision devices we needed for our machine. We used a Net Present Value (NPV) to determine the financial benefit. We utilized the cost of each part along with the money saved due to the improved efficiency of production.
